Tickets for the 67th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) went on sale this week, with the five-day event returning to Florida's "Yachting Capital of the World" from October 28 to November 1. Billed as the world's largest in-water boat show, FLIBS will spread across seven venues including Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Las Olas Marina, Hall of Fame Marina and the SuperYacht Village at Pier 66 South. It typically draws more than 100,000 visitors over the five days.
This is the first in a run of announcements expected as the show approaches, and the early lineup already gives a sense of scale. Sunseeker has confirmed it will be on site. Aquila Catamarans is bringing its new 35 Sport, the compact power catamaran that made its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, to Fort Lauderdale for its US showing. Williams Jet Tenders is doing something similar with the TurboJet MX, its refreshed tender line with new upholstery options and revised hull performance, which premiered at Cannes before travelling on to Southampton, Genoa and then Fort Lauderdale.
Timed to overlap with the show's opening, the International Superyacht Society has also opened nominations for its Distinguished Crew Award, sponsored by Suntex Marinas, with the winner announced at the Design & Leadership Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale on October 28. Last year's award went to Captain Liam Devlin of M/Y Unbridled, recognised for building an open culture around crew welfare as much as for seamanship.
We will highlight key exhibits as more show details emerge. FLIBS traditionally serves as the global stage for major boat debuts of all sizes, and so we are anticipating more exciting news to come soon.
