NZ buyer's agent delivers 27m Azimut Grande ready to cruise the Mediterranean

A New Zealand brokerage has secured a 2020 Azimut Grande 27M motor yacht for a private client, with the vessel set to spend its first seasons cruising the south of France and the broader Mediterranean.

The sale was finalised on 10 March 2026, with The Nautical Group (TNG) acting solely on behalf of the buyer from start to finish. TNG Managing Director James Dalzell oversaw every aspect of the purchase, concluded at a last asking price of €4,700,000 excluding VAT.

The Grande 27M ranks among the most sought-after models in Azimut's Grande range. Stretching to 26.78 metres, it carries a widebody hull that makes full use of its beam, delivering interior proportions that feel generous for the length. Five guest cabins are complemented by a full-beam owner's suite on the main deck and a stern tender garage, a combination that is notably uncommon at this size and one of the model's most distinctive characteristics. Naval architecture was penned by Stefano Righini, interiors were conceived by Achille Salvagni, and carbon fibre construction runs throughout the superstructure, keeping topside weight down and freeing up volume below.

TNG's role went considerably further than simply identifying the right vessel. Dalzell coordinated independent surveys, guided the buyer through tax structuring options, managed company registration and vessel flagging, and arranged legal representation throughout. Once survey results came back satisfactory and all due diligence was complete, attention shifted to readying the yacht for immediate use. A comprehensive fit-out was carried out covering everything from linens and tableware to cleaning products and personal items, with the goal being that the new owners could step aboard on delivery day and head straight out without having to source a single thing.

"When our clients came to us with what they wanted in a boat, we used our contacts to find the right one," said James Dalzell, Managing Director of The Nautical Group. "From surveys and legal advice through to flagging and company setup, we handled the entire process. But what really set this apart was the fit-out. We stocked and prepared the yacht so that on handover day, the owners turned the key and went. No waiting, no chasing suppliers. That's what working with a dedicated buyer's agent looks like."

Dalzell's qualifications as a captain, with hands-on experience handling yachts of this scale, brought an additional layer of value to the transaction. He conducted a familiarisation trip for the new owners at no extra cost, providing a thorough introduction to the vessel while also carrying out a final quality check. The trip confirmed that every item flagged during the survey had been properly addressed and that the yacht met TNG's own delivery standard before the handover was completed.

The owners plan to cruise privately through the south of France and across the wider Mediterranean during the first year or two, after which they may consider making the yacht available for charter.
