Spinlock gears up as safety partner for Cowes Week bicentenary

Spinlock has been confirmed as the Official Safety Partner of North Sails Cowes Week for 2026, bringing together two Cowes-based businesses united by what both describe as a shared commitment to keeping people safe on the water.

Spinlock has been designing and manufacturing marine equipment in Cowes for more than 50 years, and the partnership ties one of sailing's most recognisable safety brands to one of its most storied regattas during a significant year. As CEO Chris Hill noted, "Spinlock is delighted to be supporting North Sails Cowes Week in its Bicentenary year."

The most tangible expression of the deal will be seen in the volunteer fleet. Throughout the regatta, Spinlock will supply its award-winning Deckvest lifejackets to the volunteer team who keep racing running each day, ensuring the people working hardest behind the scenes are properly equipped.

Robert Trimble, Chairman of North Sails Cowes Week, welcomed the fit. "As a fellow Cowes-based business with an international reputation for excellence, Spinlock is a natural fit for the regatta," he said. "Their support will help protect the volunteers who make racing possible every day."

Spinlock will also back two key days on the regatta calendar. Prizes and vouchers will be on offer for winning boats on Family Day, Sunday 2 August, and Women's Day, Tuesday 4 August.

The Women's Day involvement goes further than prize-giving. Following racing on 4 August, Spinlock and The Magenta Project will host a reception on the Cowes Yacht Haven Balcony, with the first 200 drinks complimentary. The event is designed to bring women together after a day on the water, with a focus on connection and shared experience, with the mentoring opportunities available through The Magenta Project's programme also on the agenda. The global charity works to accelerate diversity in sailing through mentoring, networking, and career development.

Hill pointed to the breadth of Spinlock's engagement with competitors as a driver of the partnership. "We have a connection with every participant at Cowes Week, across all the classes, with our Control, Protect and Sense product ranges supporting sailors to get the most out of their day on the water. We are looking forward to enjoying North Sails Cowes Week 2026 as a supporter, participant and as a local business in the town we love."

Trimble echoed that broader ambition. "Their backing of Family Day and Women's Day demonstrates a shared commitment to growing our sport and supporting the next generation of sailors."
