Racing returned to Cambridge on 24 May with the opening round of the 2026 HRL season. Saturday's programme was cancelled due to weather, but Sunday delivered a full card of competitive finals across four classes.
In Formula R, Francis Sauvé claimed his very first final victory after an outstanding day of competition. Rémi Beauvillain in the R-91 Karma finished second, with Ayden Sovie rounding out the podium in the R-50 CentsLess 15.
The Formula F final drew plenty of attention, with Eddie Kanfoush and John Shaw set for a direct showdown. Kanfoush came out on top to complete a perfect weekend. Shaw's F-92 Tenacity took second, and Kyle Hayes in the F-35 TMSpecial stepped onto the Formula F podium for the first time after recently graduating from the R class, formerly the 2.5 litres class.
Tommy Shannon was the standout in the Hydro 350 class, winning both qualifying heats and the final for an unbeaten weekend. It was his first victory since the Brockville races in 2023. Nicolas Rousse finished second aboard the H-225 Rousse Motorsports, a welcome return after two years away from the HRL circuit, with Danny Léger in the H-666 Charpentek completing the podium in third.
Reigning 2025 HRL champions Samantha and Jerry Ewancio picked up right where they left off in the Jersey Speed Skiff class, steering the JSS-45 In The Red to another final victory. Quebec duo Alexandre De Roy and Michael Tremblay finished second in the JSS-99 Veri Cheri Racing, with De Roy taking over driving duties from Davey Greenlaw for the final. Dallas and Courtney Truelove rounded out the podium in the JSS-721 Go'n Skiff'n Crazy.
The circuit moves to Sorel-Tracy on 6 and 7 June for the Régates internationales de Sorel-Tracy, with all classes back in action.
