When Marex Boats completes its newest addition to the Kaunas, Lithuania facility, it will mark the single largest capital investment the company has ever made. The project centres on an 11,000 m² purpose-built production hall, scheduled to open in winter 2027, and represents a genuine step-change for the Lithuanian operation rather than a modest incremental upgrade.
The new hall will sit alongside the existing 28,000 m² site and will give the Kaunas yard a manufacturing capability it has never had before: the ability to build three-deck vessels of close to 55 feet in length. That capacity has simply not existed at this facility until now.
What sets the expansion apart is the emphasis placed on manufacturing intelligence alongside raw floor space. Component supply to workers on the production line will be handled by Compact Twin vertical automated warehousing from Weland Solutions, a system designed to keep materials moving efficiently without the inefficiencies of conventional storage. The facility's energy infrastructure pairs a 350-kW solar array with a 222 kW Viessmann geothermal heat pump system, covering both heating and cooling requirements across the building.
The development also includes a second 50-metre hull testing pool, giving the yard additional capacity for on-site testing. A new showroom forms part of the build as well, conceived as a dedicated space where dealers, partners, press, and prospective customers can experience the complete Marex range under one roof.
General Manager Saulius Pajárskas framed the project as infrastructure for the next phase of the business rather than a straightforward capacity increase. "This isn't just about space," he said. "It's about building the right infrastructure: hull testing, automated warehousing, a proper showroom, and energy systems that can support it all."

Up to 100 new jobs in the Kaunas region are forecast to follow from the expansion. Founded in Norway in 1973, Marex Boats today employs more than 400 people, producing six cruiser models spanning 9.5 to 14 metres in length. The brand holds multiple European Motorboat of the Year and European Powerboat of the Year titles.
