Altex Yacht & Boat Paint has released a new addition to its range: the Altex Multipurpose Primer / Undercoat. Combining the roles of primer and undercoat into a single product, it removes the need to apply separate coats at each stage, making marine painting projects considerably more straightforward.
Suitable for use both above and below the waterline, the single-pack formula delivers lasting protection across steel, wood, and GRP substrates. Strong adhesion, fast drying times, and easy sandability mean the product works equally well on hulls, topsides, decks, and interior areas, covering the full range of surfaces a boat owner is likely to encounter.
Application is flexible. Whether by brush, roller, or spray, the product delivers solid coverage and a finish that looks the part. Its adhesion and surfacing qualities also make it a practical choice for addressing minor scratches ahead of top coating, saving additional preparation steps.
Beyond straightforward priming duties, the Multipurpose Primer / Undercoat can serve as a tie-coat over existing alkyd enamel systems. It also fits neatly into a complete Altex antifoul system, with confirmed compatibility across No.5, No.5 PLUS, Pettit Vivid, and Regatta Gloss Enamel.
