The Doyle Sails Gold Cup Series brought together four Auckland yacht clubs, Royal Akarana Yacht Club, Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, Richmond Yacht Club, and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, for a demanding season of racing.
Royal Akarana Yacht Club coordinated the series around a varied programme of coastal races across four courses ranging from 35 to 48 nautical miles. The season's climax was the Balokovic Cup, an overnight offshore race of approximately 89 nautical miles that frequently proves the decisive factor in the final standings.
Gold Cup PHRF results
Nirvana claimed the overall PHRF series win, combining a victory at the Spring Regatta with a string of consistent top placings to finish on a net score of 14. Liquid Luck made significant gains on corrected time to secure second place, including a win at Bean Rock, while Equilibrium, despite impressive line honours results throughout the campaign, slipped to third once its higher rating was applied. Apparition and Alegre completed the top five, both building their results on steady, reliable performances across the season. The PHRF standings reshuffled the fleet substantially, underlining that well-sailed, mid-rated boats and the discipline of racing to rating can be more rewarding than raw speed alone.

Gold Cup Line results
Equilibrium was the dominant force on line honours, producing consistently strong results across every regatta and taking the overall win with just 10 points, reduced to a net score of 6 after discards. Alegre finished second and highlighted its campaign with a race win at Bean Rock, while Liquid Luck secured third through solid mid-fleet finishes. Nirvana and Flying Boat rounded out the top five, both capable of strong pace at times but unable to match Equilibrium's consistency across the full series. Further back in the fleet, numerous DNC and RET scores took a heavy toll on standings, with several boats failing to complete a full campaign, underlining that showing up and finishing is every bit as important as crossing the line first.

Multihull division
The multihull fleet produced an outstanding series performance from Oceans Tribute, which claimed both the line honours and PHRF handicap titles. Although Wraith II edged ahead on the water in the Balokovic Cup, Oceans Tribute responded by winning the Percy Jones Race outright, and that victory proved decisive on corrected time. Under PHRF, Oceans Tribute secured the series with a net score of 10, while Wraith II, despite its evident pace and that earlier line honours win, finished second on handicap with a net score of 11.
The organisers extended a heartfelt thank you to Doyle Sails for their continued backing of the series, to the volunteers who stayed out through the night at Akarana Patrol to finish the fleet, and to every competitor whose participation made the whole event possible.
The prizegiving drew a pleasing crowd, with the organising team genuinely buoyed by the turnout. While some prize winners were unable to attend due to the RNI conflict, the room was filled not only by winners but by crews who came along simply to support the occasion. Series dates for the 26-27 season are expected to be confirmed shortly.
